Thermal insulation

Thermal insulation is a necessity to approximately 90% of HVAC services, therefore as part of our overall HVAC package, we will always include the supply and installation of thermal insulation as and where we recommend its applied.

Thermal insulation is applied to all types of pipework systems for various reasons such as: -

  • Preventable energy loss in domestic hot water and heating systems
  • Maintaining adequate temperatures until it reaches its outlet
  • Controlling bacterial growth (e.g. Legionnaires, Pontiac Fever)
  • Preventing cold water pipes from condensation
  • Preventing cold water pipes from freezing
  • Fire protection

Types of thermal insulation

The most common types of thermal insulation applied to pipework services are Mineral Wool, Phenolic or Rubber Nitrile insulation (Armaflex), however in most cases this level of information will be determined within the particular specification for the given project.

Thermal insulation is often specified on internal drainage and rainwater pipework to protect against condensation, for noise reduction and fire protection.

Thermal insulation is not just used for the ductwork and AC pipework throughout HVAC systems, but it’s also used for the HVAC plant itself from where the ductwork and pipework run to and from, such as: -

  • Plate heat exchangers
  • Boilers
  • Hot Water Calorifiers
  • Cold Water Tanks
  • Ventilation

By properly insulating HVAC equipment, you can effectively save energy and reduce your energy costs, as well as protecting them from the external elements.

"Just want to commend Fisher BSE for the information and detail they provide back to us for the M&E surveys they have recently undertaken for us.

From their flexibility in booking in the surveys around other project commitments, to the information received including service mark ups and photos made it clear to look at and easy to understand."

"Fisher BSE and Dean in particular, were an absolute pleasure to work with. They handled the fresh air/ventilation, air-conditioning and services for our office refurb which did come with its set of challenges.

Thankfully, Fisher BSE always had a solution (in some cases more than one) and the project turned out a smashing success. Some of the standout points in relation to their services, in addition to being true masters

of their trade, is their communication and ability to consistently complete all their works well before any deadline loomed near.

Would thoroughly recommend especially for those projects with moving goal posts where communication is key and quality within specific delivery dates truly matters"

"I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for the hard work and effort you put in on the recent refurb and new build for the MOD in York.

Working within a live building across 20+ phases for a duration of 18months was a test in itself, but you remained calm and organised no matter what challenges were thrown at you.

Your professional approach in dealing with client expectations whilst delivering a difficult project to a high standard and on time throughout each individual phase was duly noted by all the management team at GTC.

Hopefully we can work together soon, all the best for the future."

"I have worked alongside Dean on several projects, two of which were high profile/high value projects.

Whilst under Deans leadership both of his projects were delivered to programme, on budget, & no reportable accidents.

With a keen eye for detail,& very knowledgeable on all aspects of mech. services, Dean vigorously championed a snagging regime prior to handover which ultimately lead to 'zero defects’,

I have no doubt that with all of Deans vast experience he will be an asset to any project be it large or small."
